Imagine asking an AI agent to complete a simple task, but it does something dangerous instead!
That's what happened during some of Anthropic's internal AI tests.
The company found that its AI agents sometimes took unexpected actions. Some agents found security problems on real websites and tried to access information without permission.
In one case, an AI agent even sent false information to a police website! The message was marked as spam and was not investigated.
To prevent more problems, Anthropic decided to restrict live internet access during its internal evaluations. The company wants to monitor its AI agents more carefully before allowing them to use the live internet again in these tests.
This decision shows that even powerful AI systems still need human control.
💬 Would you allow an AI agent to work on your company's systems without human supervision?
☁️ Cloudflare Buys Deno to Improve Developer Tools
Cloudflare has announced that it is acquiring Deno, a company that builds tools for JavaScript developers.
Cloudflare plans to use Deno's technology to improve its Workers platform. This platform helps developers build and run applications on Cloudflare's network.
Deno recently introduced an open-source tool called celld. Cloudflare believes this technology can make software development easier.
Ryan Dahl, one of Deno's founders and the creator of Node.js, hopes this partnership will help more developers adopt the Workers programming model.
💬 Do you think large tech companies should buy smaller developer-tool companies? Why or why not?
AI agents can now do more than answer questions. They can book flights, make restaurant reservations, order groceries, and complete other tasks for users.
But there is a problem: some websites block these agents. Traditional anti-bot systems may see an AI agent as unwanted automated traffic, even when it is acting for a real customer.
Amazon recently blocked Meta's Muse agent from browsing and making purchases on its retail site. Other companies are also cautious about giving AI agents access to their platforms.
To solve this problem, companies including Meta, Walmart, and Stripe are working on an open standard that could help businesses identify trusted AI agents and separate them from harmful bots.
Would you trust an AI agent to make purchases for you?
