In my opinion, it is crucial to understand that drones (of course war in Ukraine with drones it’s not only an FPV drone. That’s CUAS. ELINT. Tremendous amount of data that must be analysed) are about two things: threats and opportunities.

And if you the ability to observe the war you must understand how to integrate them into your army, what capabilities they give you and what kind of threats they will create.

Most of people if they talk about the «kill zone» they imagine a large amount of FPVs flying around. That’s true. But FPVs are not creating a «kill zone». ISR drones do.

Screens from a Ukrainian ISR drone observing an area with more than 30 trucks approximately 100 km from the FLOT.

That’s why it is important to built a couple of echelons with CUAS: IN drones, radars, different sensors, AD systems and, of course, EW systems. Situational awesomeness and capability with the help of software and AI to work with data are crucial in a modern warfare.

Last year Russian army had ambitious plans in terms of reorganisation of their army. In most cases because of the losses they failed to achieve their goals.

For 2026 Russians also planned (apart from those plans that failed) to create new units and reorganise already existing.

More about creating strategic reserves and reforms of Russian army at our with @RALee85 Substack.

P.S. take a look what they are doing with the 76th air assault division 🔽

Despite the fact that Taiwan definitely should pay more attention to different types of drones and do that ASAP, I am a strong supporter of the idea of buying new tanks (especially if we compare them with what they have).

It’s just should be done in a wise way where you split and prioritise your budget between different types of equipment.

The discussion around drones and the war in Ukraine often has two negative and destructive trends:

1) Drones and their use are a complete absolute.
2) Drones do not affect anything and will soon lose relevance/they do not suit the army of our state (you can substitute the name of the country yourself).

NATO countries (including the USA) should study the war in Ukraine and the trends it brings (significant reduction in the cost of conducting hostilities) in as much detail as possible in order to correctly adapt, not copy, their use.

Drones are threats and opportunities.
