Shaking Out Weak Hands
This was supposed to be a post about the new ATH of numbers. But it won't be. Because it's not a real ATH. The price of numbers in USD has been relatively stable since June 2025.
So what's causing the rise in TON numbers? Of course, it's the fall in the price of TON itself in USD. This post described the mechanism of the short-term negative correlation between these two parameters.
The market maker needs to lull people into the false belief that TON will remain so cheap forever and will only continue to fall. People are left with two options: sell TON cheap and lock in losses, or buy assets that maintain their price in USD (numbers, usernames, gifts). This situation will continue for some time. When most people exchange their TON for NFTs, a sharp pump in the TON price will occur. But people who spent most of their TON on NFTs won't be able to sell them quickly at the prices they bought them at and will be forced to accept TON losses, even if they gain value per dollar. This shows the market maker's work to extract available TONs from retailers and reduce the TONs in circulation.
Remember that over time, numbers increase in TON, and the swings between cheap TON and expensive numbers in TON, expensive TON and cheap numbers in TON, are used to shake out weak hands. Don't let yourself get shake out!
