Honestly, I cannot for the life of me understand why, when someone is clearly having a bloody awful time, you insist on getting on their nerves with “What’s wrong?” “Why are you upset?” “Why aren’t you alright?”
Are you genuinely that oblivious? Can’t you see that every single time they dodge the question, change the subject, or give you some rubbish excuse because they quite clearly do not want to talk about it?
If they want you to know what’s wrong, they’ll bloody well tell you when they’re ready. It’s not your job to interrogate them until they crack.
And yet you keep going on and on and on, as though pestering someone is somehow going to make them feel better. It doesn’t. When someone is already struggling, the last thing they need is another person constantly getting on their nerves.
I know you mean well. I know it comes from concern, and I’m not denying that. But for God’s sake, I’ve said this time and time again: if someone has brushed you off twice and clearly doesn’t want to talk about it, leave them alone.
Stop pushing them. Stop asking. Stop making them repeat themselves.
They don’t want to answer.
Bloody well let them be.
