US DoJ eyes breaking Google up in landmark antitrust move
09.10.24 A court filing entered late Tuesday revealed that the US Department of Justice is considering requesting a forced divestment of Google businesses to prevent it from monopolizing the online search market.
Lee-Anne Mulholland, Google’s vice president of regulatory affairs, claimed that such “government overreach” would have potentially damaging consequences for US innovation.
US District Judge Amit Mehta has suggested a trial to determine the remedy for the August ruling that Google has abused its market position, with a decision not likely until August 2025. RT.com
