Have you noticed how, during protests, some influencers suddenly start presenting themselves as “journalists”?
For the whole year, they do paid promotions, political influencing, sponsored content and attend political events. But when protests begin, they suddenly appear with microphones and press IDs, despite having no journalism background or affiliation with any media organisation.
They don’t report objectively either. They openly take sides, provoke police, confront armed personnel and push their own agenda, while using the “journalist” tag as a shield.
At some point, the line between journalism and activism needs to be clearly defined.
