♨️ In Memory of Professor Yalda: He Will Not Be the Last Yalda



📌... Was Dr. Yalda the last of the great physicians who connected us to our historical sages?... It is Dr. Yalda's own teaching that nothing will be able to prevent the medical community from producing new, young "Yaldas"... The reality is that no economic or social system will be able to strip the science of medicine of its human heritage, of the legacy of Yaldas, Gharibis, Moghaddars, and Davachis.

📌What remains in the memory of the medical community, from the oldest to the youngest, from those passionate and heartfelt classes that were held in that narrow basement of the infectious diseases ward at Imam Hospital, is indelible; the lesson of compassion that never ceased for decades, despite the various social tensions, harshness, and violence that occurred outside the walls of that hospital.

📌Aside from the discussions about infectious diseases, that place also attracted physicians from other fields, so they could observe a truly existing model of a "human physician" in all its various dimensions and gauge their own angle and distance from it.

📌After the class, he would sit on the wooden chair next to the head of the department's desk—a position he never accepted—so the students could present any complex patient cases from any department. Whatever he said was always useful, even if he just said, "Don't lose hope!" And it didn't matter if you were a first-year resident or the attending physician of the same department; he treated everyone with the same look and tone.

📌... The night is long, but Dr. Yalda taught us that life will go on, and he will not be the last Yalda. Many Yaldas are present right now, near and far. They are very young but very hardworking. They haven't left; they have stayed and will not leave. I meet many of them every day. Their number is small, but like a small gem, they shine brightly in the darkness. They will endure the long Yalda night until the morning dawns. The decades-long morning rounds at the infectious diseases ward at Imam Hospital cannot be fruitless.
