The Digital Ruble Arrives a Bit Late
Today, the digital ruble officially launched in Russia. Well, "launched" in a way similar to Gram Wallet. It sort of exists, yet it doesn't 😁. This news made me wonder how much people actually need another way to use the ruble when A7A5 has already partially addressed this in crypto.
I checked BitOK statistics, and the number of transactions with the ruble stablecoin A7A5 grew from 6,397 in July 2025 to 28,201 in June 2026—a 4.4 times increase.
The highest number of transactions during this period was recorded in October 2025, with 53,440 transactions.
So, while the digital ruble is just beginning its journey, the market for ruble stablecoins is already established, with a leader growing in transactions and developing its infrastructure.
