There are many legends at InteRussia Team — but only one of them is our Sergey Orlov, the Deputy Director of the Gorchakov Fund who’s celebrating his big day today 🎁

He can turn any lecture into a journey you don’t want to leave. He knows how to host an event where even shrimp in batter become a symbol of diplomacy. And when it comes to uniting people — trust us, there’s no crowd he can’t bring together (and no afterparty he can’t improve).

Sergey, you’re our perpetual motion machine — always on the move, always thinking ahead, always with a twinkle in your eye and an idea up your sleeve. Thank you for the energy you give, the inspiration you spark, and the warmth you carry with you.

May your personal updates always come bug-free, your inspiration flow like Wi-Fi at a conference, and your joy be as endless as your to-do list (but with way better vibes).

Happy Birthday, Seryozha — never stop being the main character of every room you walk into ❤️

Can I learn Russian during the InteRussia fellowship? ✍️

A popular question — and here’s the honest answer.

Yes, you can pick up some Russian while you’re here. After all, you’ll spend nearly a month in Russia, surrounded by the language, culture, and people. Many of our fellows say it sparked their desire to keep learning Russian afterwards!

‼️But — and it’s a big one — the programme is not designed for learning the language.

Our fellowships are built around your professional development. All activities are conducted primarily in English (except for fellowships in Russian studies, which are in Russian, and some journalism rounds, which are in Arabic).

There are no Russian language courses in the schedule, and frankly — you won’t have time for them. Because your stay in Russia will be packed with expert sessions, networking, field visits, and working on your own research or creative project. That’s where the real magic happens ✨

➡️ So, if your main goal is to study Russian — InteRussia might not be the right fit.

But if you're looking to grow, explore, and connect — we’re here for it.
