🇨🇦 Canada. After the Start-Up Visa Changes: What Options Remain for Entrepreneurs?
Canada is shifting its focus from start-up programs toward pathways that prioritize established businesses, investment, and entrepreneurs’ economic contribution.
Today, business owners can consider two main options:
▶️ Get consultation
▪️ Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) – starting or acquiring a business in a selected province, with a pathway to permanent residence. On average, applicants are required to invest $75,000–100,000 in a business and demonstrate personal net assets of at least $220,000. After launching the business, the entrepreneur must actively manage it in Canada for at least 6–12 months.
▪️ Intra-Company Transfer (ICT) – establishing a Canadian branch of an existing company. This option offers more flexible financial requirements but is designed for owners of established businesses that can demonstrate a genuine need for international expansion.
Unlike the Start-Up Visa, these pathways are intended for entrepreneurs who are prepared to actively operate and develop a business in Canada. Permanent residence provides the right to live and work in the country, as well as access to social benefits and education.
