Moving to France does not necessarily require launching a business or taking up employment. The financially independent residence permit programme allows applicants to obtain residency by proving they have sufficient funds to support themselves.

• Proof of financial means – approximately €25,000 per year per adult family member
• Accommodation in France – owned property or long-term rental
• No professional activity in France

The initial residence permit is issued for 1 year with the possibility of renewal. Knowledge of French is not required for obtaining the permit.
