If you're considering obtaining a second residency status, you don't have to limit your options to the most familiar destinations. One programme worth considering is Panama's Permanent Residence by Investment.

Programme Requirements:
• From $300,000 – investment in real estate (completed property or an off-plan development purchased through an escrow account)
• From $500,000 – investment in securities
• From $750,000 – deposit with a Panamanian bank

The qualifying investment must be maintained for five years.

Programme Benefits:
▪️Indefinite permanent residence – to maintain the status, it is sufficient to visit Panama once every two years
▪️The opportunity to apply for citizenship after five years, provided you reside in Panama for more than 183 days per year and pass a Spanish language examination
▪️Access to a Travel Passport – a special travel document available to foreign nationals holding Permanent Residence, allowing visa-free travel to more than 140 countries, including the Schengen Area

📌 Although the legislation provides for the Travel Passport, it is not yet being issued under this programme, as the implementing circular outlining the application procedure has not yet been published.
