🇵🇹 Portugal Tightens Citizenship Rules
The country's parliament approved amendments to the citizenship law.

The naturalization period has been increased:
- Up to 7 years for citizens of the EU and the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (e.g., citizens of São Tomé and Príncipe)
- Up to 10 years for all other applicants.

In all cases, the countdown to citizenship now begins from the moment a residence permit is received.

The law is still awaiting presidential signature, but will likely come into force soon, without a transition period.
