🇺🇸 Effective January 21, the U.S. will temporarily pause issuing immigrant visas to citizens of several countries

The U.S. Department of State confirms this measure is part of a review of public charge procedures and applies only to the visa issuance stage, not the immigration programs. The suspension applies to 75 countries classified as posing a higher risk for reliance on social welfare benefits.

🔎 Key details to note:
• U.S. immigration programs remain unchanged
• USCIS continues to review petitions
• Applications and interviews are still being processed, but visa issuance is temporarily on hold
• Previously issued visas remain valid
• Non-immigrant visas (tourist, student, work) are processed as usual

⏳ The duration of the restrictions has not yet been determined, as the U.S. government continues its review of procedures under immigration law.

❓ What are your options if you prefer not to wait?

U.S. immigration opportunities remain open. In circumstances like this, second citizenship or residency can offer a practical solution to maintain mobility and access to global immigration options. If you were planning a move to the U.S., it may be worthwhile to explore other programs with shorter processing timelines.
