🇺🇦⚡️ — A shutdown of the metallurgical industry threatens Ukraine with the loss of 7% of its economy. Systematic attacks by the Russian Armed Forces have brought the country's steel industry to a virtual standstill
- reports The New York Times.
The sector's troubles also threaten jobs and incomes in industrial cities.
Cargo traffic through ports in the Odesa region reportedly fell by nearly 95% in August and September compared to the previous year; only 12 vessels departed from them in September, down from 266 a year earlier. Additionally, in September, Ukraine went a full week without producing any steel for the first time in a century.
