This was reported by The Washington Post, citing American and Mexican officials.

The focus is primarily on citizens of Colombia. According to the publication, the cartels offer large sums of money to specialists returning from Ukraine and are involving them in training drone operators in Mexico.

Some individuals linked to the cartels are being sent to the war under annual contracts.

The U.S. State Department has stated that it is discussing with Kiev measures to reduce the risk of transferring combat skills to criminal groups.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense considers the problem to be limited. The ministry stated that foreigners undergo checks, and that there are "not many" people arriving with criminal intentions.
