Meta’s X rival, Threads, will soon begin testing video ads in users’ feeds, the company announced at IAB NewFronts. A limited number of advertisers can trial 16:9 or 1:1 video formats, similar to ads on Facebook and Instagram. Meta also revealed new features like Account Status for user transparency and plans to test Reels trending ads and AI-powered video expansion for Facebook Reels. Threads now has over 350 million monthly active users, with a 35% rise in time spent on the app.
