Instagram head Adam Mosseri confirmed that the platform does not penalize content edited with third-party apps like TikTok or CapCut. However, videos with watermarks, often from free editing tools, will be downranked.

This means you can edit content externally without worrying about reach, but avoid watermarks. Instagram is also launching its own editing app, Edits, on March 31, 2025, to provide advanced tools for creators.
