"Nizhne-Arkhyzskoye Settlement" Museum-Reserve, Karachay-Cherkess Republic
🌿 The village of Nizhny Arkhyz is home to the "Nizhne-Arkhyzskoye Settlement" Museum-Reserve. Here you can see monuments and the ruins of ancient structures dating back to the 10th–12th centuries.
🌿 According to legend, this was once the city of Maas, the capital of the Alanian state, where the first Christian churches were built. A section of the Great Silk Road passed through it.
🌿 Today you can see an ancient sundial, pagan sanctuaries, and stone idols, as well as several early Christian churches.
