MAJOR EAST COAST AIRPORTS HIT BY FAA OUTAGE

Something suddenly went wrong over the East Coast.

Flights were brought to a stop at Newark, Philadelphia and Teterboro after communications used by air traffic controllers went down. The disruption then spread, with ground stops also hitting JFK, LaGuardia and Westchester County Airport.

Hundreds of flights have been delayed and aircraft diverted as the problems rippled across some of the busiest airspace in the country. And this wasn’t a major storm shutting down the skies.

Multiple major airports. Hundreds of delays. And a communications failure sending disruptions across the Northeast.

Flying through the Northeast? Check your flight status directly with your airline before heading to the airport, as delays can continue even after ground stops are lifted.
