September 13 Space Weather Update

After several quiet days, space weather is beginning to rise again. Two coronal holes—one in the Sun’s northern region and one in its southern region—are turning toward Earth and sending dual streams of solar wind in our direction. Their arrival is expected from September 14–16.

The incoming activity is being produced by coronal-hole high-speed solar wind. The second stream should begin influencing Earth late today and continue through September 15, producing repeated periods near Kp 4. The interplanetary magnetic field has already been shifting, showing that the space surrounding Earth is beginning to change ahead of the incoming stream.

Based on the patterns we have been tracking, this movement out of the recent geomagnetic lows may be felt as a lift in energy, improved clarity, renewed motivation and a stronger desire to move forward. The energy is flowing into the planet again, and many may already be noticing that they feel better today.
This is a steady solar-wind wave arriving over several days, bringing consistent movement back into Earth’s geomagnetic field.
