It’s always about the money for London.
That’s the only reason they keep control here. It’s not about a line on a map.
People would rather watch us crumble over bragging rights than make us a rich independent nation for our future generations.
Ireland is sitting on a maritime zone seven times the size of the land. We still import 78.2% of our energy. 100% of our oil. 82.3% of our gas. Over half of those imports came from the UK in 2025.
That is not geography. That is policy.
Offshore wind target by 2050 37 GW. About six times current peak demand. That is export power, green hydrogen, ports, manufacturing, and high-value jobs if the island is treated as one energy system instead of two grids arguing over a border.
Then look under the water. Historical Barryroe estimates 311 million barrels of oil and 207 billion cubic feet of gas. At $75 a barrel that oil alone is a theoretical $23.3 billion of resource value. Not guaranteed revenue. Scale.
And that is before fisheries, shipping, seabed infrastructure, aquaculture and one integrated market.
A united Ireland would not make anyone rich overnight. Pretending there is no economic opportunity in putting the people, the waters, the ports and the energy system under one strategy is just as dishonest.
The real question is not who owns the line.
It is how much wealth this island is leaving in the ground, in the sea, and in other people’s invoices.
Our resources. Our people. Our future.
