Israeli police have arrested an ultra-Orthodox Jewish man suspected of pepper-spraying a nine-year-old Christian boy near Jerusalem’s Old City on Yom Kippur.

The boy, a local Armenian Christian, was riding his bike through the Mamila shopping district when the attack occurred.

Israel’s Special Envoy to the Christian World George Deek thanked police for their swift action in the case, and noted that “Israel takes violence against Christians seriously.”
