A: You changed.
B: No, I stopped pretending.
A: Pretending what?
B: That I was okay when I wasn’t.
A: I thought we were fine.
B: That’s the problem. You thought it; I was just managing it.
A: Managing what?
B: Disappointment I kept to myself so we wouldn’t argue.
A: Why didn’t you tell me?
B: I did. Just not loudly enough for you to take it seriously.
A: I never saw it coming.
B: I know. Most men don’t.
A: That hurts to hear.
B: Imagine how it felt living it.
A: So, what exactly went wrong?
B: Nothing all at once; everything little by little.
A: Can we just start over?
B: Start again with what exactly? The same habits that destroyed us in the first place?
A: I can change.
B: Change is not a sentence, it’s a pattern over time.
A: So, you’re done?
B: I’m done repeating myself.
A: I still love you.
B: Love without understanding becomes noise after a while.
A: So, all of this means nothing now?
B: It meant everything. That’s why I stayed as long as I did. And now…
A: Now?
B: Now I want peace more than potential.
A: You’re choosing peace over us.
B: I’m choosing peace over confusion.
A: Will you miss me?
B: I already did, while I was still here.
A: So what now? We just act like none of this mattered?
B: No, we accept that it did, and still wasn’t enough to hold us together.
A: That feels cold.
B: Truth usually does when you’re hearing it too late.
A: I wish I understood earlier.
B: Understanding only comes after consequences. That’s how most people learn.
A: Are you saying I failed you?
B: I’m saying you didn’t notice me slipping away while I was still trying to stay.
A: I was there.
B: Physically, yes. Emotionally, not always.
A: I never meant to hurt you.
B: Intent doesn’t erase impact.
A: So, what was I supposed to do?
B: Pay attention when I got quieter, not just when I got upset.
A: I thought giving space…
B: Space without presence becomes distance.
A: And now you’re distant.
B: I became what the relationship trained me to be.
A: Can we fix that?
B: Not with words.
A: Then with what?
B: With time and consistency.
A: I don’t want to lose you completely.
B: People don’t lose me in one day… until one day, there’s nothing left to access.
A: So this is the result, and you’re okay with that?
B: I’m not okay. I’m just no longer fighting something that doesn’t change.
Never wait until someone is walking away to become the partner they needed all along. The greatest regrets in love usually begin with the words: “I thought everything was fine.”
