From Centralized Trust to Programmable Trust

Digital systems have long relied on institutions to verify identities, records, and transactions. Blockchain adds another way to coordinate trust: a shared network where validators confirm activity and transaction records can be checked across the system.

Smart contracts make this model programmable. They encode rules that applications can execute when defined conditions are met, while consensus helps the network agree on valid activity. On ICB Network, these are infrastructure tools for building applications with transparent, verifiable processes. Governance can also give participants a channel to contribute to network decisions. The aim is not to remove every intermediary or promise perfect trust, but to make how digital activity is validated more visible and easier to verify.
