๐ฆ๐ช-United Arab Emirates, Fujairah | Satellite images reveal repeated Iranian strikes targeting critical oil transport infrastructure
New satellite images, reviewed by Reuters, show that a small but highly significant area of Fujairah Port has been subjected to repeated Iranian strikes. Fujairah Port is one of the United Arab Emirates' most important oil export hubs and is located outside the Strait of Hormuz.
The first image, taken on February 27, shows the port's crude oil storage area, along with the main matrix manifolds used to direct oil through the terminal.
Subsequent high-resolution images show the same operational area suffering additional strikes:
โข March 9: One of the main matrix manifolds was damaged.
โข May 4: Further damage occurred to nearby pipelines.
โข The repeated strikes focused on essential infrastructure for oil transport through the port.
Fujairah's importance lies in its strategic nature; it allows the UAE to export oil without requiring tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, making the port a vital alternative route in times of disruption or blockade.
An investigation by Reuters found that Iran and its allied forces carried out at least 135 drone and missile attacks, targeting 84 infrastructure sites in Gulf states since the start of the war on February 28. This campaign has repeatedly focused on sensitive components, the loss of which could disrupt much larger systems.
