🇺🇸/🇮🇷-The U.S. Central Command released footage showing U.S. Marine Corps AH-1Z "Viper" helicopters firing what are believed to be AGM-114 "Hellfire" guided missiles to destroy civilian Iranian fishing boats used by the Revolutionary Guard for surveillance and reconnaissance purposes, with the aim of assisting in targeting U.S. Navy ships in the Gulf of Oman, as well as commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz. These helicopters are believed to belong to the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU 11), based aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer, deployed in the Arabian Sea.
