Egyptian mythology says that Thoth brought the knowledge of the Heavens and the Earth to the Egyptians, leading to developments in spiritual sciences, and systems of medicine. We see parallels to this in the biblical accounts of the Watchers, the Nephilim that came to earth, bringing knowledge and skills to humankind. ⁣
⁣In the Greek translation of the word, 'spao' means 'to draw out' and 'agerio' meaning 'to gather'. Alchemy holds that there are three philosophical principles (aka the Three Essentials or Three Substances) that make up everything- 'the entire manifestation of matter is said to be maintained through their cooperation'. Mercury (spirit), Sulfur (soul), and Salt (body). In plant alchemy, this translates to the Soul being the essential oils, organic acids, and other medicinal compounds; Spirit is the alcohol, and Body is the mineral salts of the plant.⁣
