Stop Tilling Your Soil

There are many methods available to you depending on your gardening preferences, but I would argue that no till/no dig gardening isn't just another option - it's the way to do it.

No-till replicates growing conditions the same exact way nature intended; rich composted material accumulates on top, irrigation slowly brings nutrients down to roots over time so nothing is wasted, and the beneficial microbes in the soil are allowed to proliferate without disturbance.

The benefits are unmatched:

- Increased immunity to pests & disease
- Increased tolerance for temperature fluctuations
- Increased resistance to drought
- No hours of back-breaking labor
- Improved yield and quality

It just makes sense. Why try harder for worse results?

Of course, deep initial tilling is required to establish beds, but that's it. You shouldn't have to do more than rake manure, compost, and other fertilizers on top of your beds after they are created in the first year.
