Sun Mapping II
Using SunCalc, you'll gain access to all kinds of information, such as time of sunset, time of sunrise, daylight duration, angle of the sun, and more.
It's incredibly handy if you're planting for the first time in your area, or you've just moved.
To understand the graphic a little better: the yellow shaded area is the entire movement of the sun throughout the whole year. The orange line on the right is sunrise and the red line on the left is sunset. The arched line is the path the sun is taking today.
The red dot in the middle is where my garden is located. You can see that there are plenty of trees surrounding it, which may pose an issue for my fall garden. Unfortunately, I had no choice in the placement of it - the area and hoophouse were already there.
You can choose any date or time throughout the year to find the right spot for each plant.
Plan your garden using these estimates, and as the growing season progresses, take note of any adjustments that need to be made for next year.
