Sun Mapping

We all know that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, but throughout the year, the path and angle of the sun does change a lot. This can make a massive difference in the productivity of your garden - your planning can either lead to bountiful harvests or frustrating failures.

In placing or expanding your garden/greenhouse, you will have to take a look at any surrounding large objects - such as trees and houses - and note where their shade falls throughout the day. Preferably, your garden would be placed smack dab in middle of a generous clearing, but that's not always possible.

With sun mapping, you can maximize the health and vigor of your plants to ensure that your meticulous soil preparation hasn't gone to waste.

In gardening, just one factor can make or break your plants, and sunlight is definitely one of them!

There are many different apps on iOS and Android to help you determine the sun's path all year. For simplicity, I suggest SunCalc.
