More notes on boots
Corcorans have a reputation of comfort. We find that the sage and desert designs, with their canvas, allow a great deal of flexibility and comfort, more so than the leather. The round toe allows plentiful room. The full leather ones require significant breaking in, for sure. Do not expect to walk miles right out of the box (this is easier with the canvas, though).
People everywhere happily report that the full on leather still allows a comfy step, and they last for many years. This is my experience as well. Great for hiking, great for any task.
These boots can be found on eBay and thrift stores everywhere for cheap. If you live near an airforce base, check the thrift stores for sure.
Make sure you get a good fit. A thumb's width of the toe from the edge of the toe box, a secure heel that does not wobble as you walk.
If you buy another brand of boot, ensure that the sole is welted (physically sewn), the tread is thick, the height is similar. Inspect the seams and material for strength.
