KNIVES

Every adult needs to own a knife and keep it on their person. If you don't, please start soon. Buy one today.

There are many different kinds of knives.

The folding knife is for everyday carry, bugout or not. This is for basic utility and self defense when needed.

The fixed blade is for bugging out and combat. It would be wise to include one in your kit, since a folding knife might break more easily under the pressures of survival.

The average person derives little utility from a serrated blade, and it is more difficult to sharpen. Skip it unless you're gung ho.

Carry the folding one in your pocket, the fixed blade in your bag or on your belt.

Recommendations

Fantastic folding knife, it's the one pictured, we've owned several for years and they never let us down: CRKT Fossil

CRKT knives are all excellent quality. Not your style? Pick a different one! They have tons.

For general survival and combat: Classic Ka-Bar, or Ka-Bar style knife. Do a quick search, they're everywhere.
