Tesla vs. Everyone Else: The Most Valuable Automakers

Tesla has just unveiled its “flying” Roadster, but on the stock market it has been flying for years. Here are the top 10 automakers by market cap as of Oct 15, 2026:

• Tesla: $1.43T
• Next 9 combined: $747B (Toyota, BYD, Xiaomi, GM, Ferrari, Hyundai, Ford, Honda, Porsche)

Tesla is worth about 1.9x the other nine combined, which is around two-thirds of the whole top 10. Only three automakers are above $100B: Tesla, Toyota ($226B) and BYD ($101B).

The gap isn’t about car sales, because Toyota sells several times more cars than Tesla. Investors value Tesla as an AI and robotics bet on robotaxis and Optimus, while the rest are valued like regular carmakers. Even Xiaomi, a phone maker, is already worth more than GM and Ferrari.
