JPEG XL vs. AVIF for web use-cases

🔸AVIF generally produces smaller files than JPEG XL, but the gap narrows at maximum effort settings. AVIF is faster to encode and decode, uses less memory, and has better support for progressive rendering. However, JPEG XL can make existing JPEGs 9-20% smaller without further loss and is faster to decode at very high qualities in some browsers.
