Along with the Pixel 9 series, Google introduced a new 'Add me' feature exclusive to this series. It allows you to take a multi-person company photo if you don't have a tripod with you or don't have anyone to ask to take the shot. To do this, Add Me combines 2 photos so that everyone is in the frame.
However, I was able to run Add Me on my Pixel 8 Pro. To do this, I installed the Pixel Camera APK version 9.5.118 and used root to activate the
Cottage__cottage_enabled flag. And as it turns out, this feature works on the Pixel 8 Pro without any problems. It also uses Google AR Core Services for its functionality. We did the same on the Pixel 6, but the 'Add me' libraries from the Pixel 9 turned out to be incompatible with this device.
Who knows, maybe in the future Google will roll out 'Add me' to some older Pixel models with one of the next Pixel Feature Drops ?
