Google Pixel Fold 2 will be powered by Google's Tensor 4 and will get more RAM.
An anonymous source of Android Authority has reported that Google is testing the Pixel Fold 2 (codenamed 'Comet'), which is based on Google's Tensor G4 chip. Early prototypes of the device were based on the Tensor G3 (codenamed 'zuma'), but the new prototypes have already switched to the Tensor G4 ('zumapro').
The source also reports that some Pixel Fold 2 prototypes feature 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage, which is new to Pixel devices. More RAM is potentially useful for AI-related computing right on the device.
The Pixel Fold 1 was unveiled after the Pixel 7 at Google I/O in May 2023. If the Pixel Fold 2 is indeed based on the Tensor G4, we probably won't see it until fall 2024 at the earliest.
