Following a similar electoral pattern in Sweden, where the left bloc won 49.5% of the vote and defeated the right-wing bloc by just 3 parliamentary seats in September, and Berlin, where the far-left Die Linke won with 25.7% of the vote, France's far left continues to attract overwhelming support from Muslim voters.
In both Sweden and Berlin, strong support for left-wing parties among immigrants, including Muslim voters, played a significant role in their electoral performance and, ultimately, their victories.
In France, a June 2026 Fondapol study found that 72% of Muslim respondents reported having previously voted for Jean-Luc Mélenchon's far-left La France Insoumise (LFI), compared with just 23% of French respondents overall.
Mélenchon previously secured 69% of the Muslim vote in the 2022 presidential election, despite receiving just 22% nationally. In the 2024 European elections, 62% of Muslim voters backed his La France Insoumise party.
