ON DAY 39, WAEL'S HUNGER STRIKE SUSPENDED. THE STRUGGLE CONTINUES.

Wael Naouar has suspended the hunger strike he began in defence of his freedom and dignity. He has called on Ghassen Henchiri, Ghassen Boughdiri and Nabil Chennoufi to do the same.

This is not surrender. When every path to justice is closed, the body becomes the last line of resistance. For 39 days, Wael put his body on the line for freedom, dignity and solidarity with Palestine. Today, he chooses to preserve his life and continue his struggle by other means.

The strike is suspended, but the injustice continues as the Sumud 4 remain behind bars.

Their hunger strike is in direct response to over half a year in pre-trial detention with no trial, no credible evidence, and no end in sight. Wael is now 38 days in, semi-comatose, facing organ failure inside Mornaguia Prison. Ghassan Henchiri is bedridden, in severe pain, denied basic medical care.

The Sumud 4 are leaders in the fight for Palestine, jailed since March on fabricated financial charges designed to criminalize their solidarity.

We demand the immediate and unconditional release of the Sumud 4 and the complete dropping of all charges against them, emergency medical transfer to outside hospital care, and the release of every activist detained for standing with them.

Friends and community members gathered in Tunis out of deep care for the Sumud 4, whose health is critical after a prolonged hunger strike.

Overnight, at least 15 peaceful demonstrators were detained, pulled from their homes and off the streets. Several families still have no answers about where their loved ones are.

We demand their immediate release and full transparency on the whereabouts and wellbeing of everyone still held. Standing up for the lives of our friends should never cost anyone their freedom.

URGENT CALL TO ACTION: Wael, Nabil, Ghassan, and Ghassan are on hunger strike, and their health is deteriorating fast. Four lives are on the line.

Their appeal hearing is September 23rd. We’re calling on everyone to mobilize on September 22nd, outside your local Tunisian embassy or consulate. Every voice counts.

Their unjust detention is nothing new for those they’re standing in solidarity with. Right now, more than 3,300 Palestinians, including hundreds of children, are held without charge or trial in israeli administrative detention. The same tools of repression are crossing borders.
