A few days ago, a young guy (hello Igor) came to me and asked a very interesting and, as you will see, rather philosophical question: "What is your secret?". At the first moment, I didn't make much sense of this question, but a couple of days later I started to think: "Do I have a secret and if so, what is it?".
From all the reflections, it turned out to identify 3 more or less definite secrets:
1️⃣ The inner circle.
When I was at university, I was a fan of business literature. "Rich Dad, Poor Dad," "Think and Grow Rich," "The 10X Rule"... and absolutely every one of these works talked about the importance of the the inner circle in which you find yourself, and the dance world is no exception! The people around you do not only determine your skills and knowledge, but also influence on your behavior and worldview.
2️⃣ Be humble.
An item that follows smoothly from the previous one, and which for me personally has been almost a "credo" for the past year. Huge feeling of self importance is a stage that EVERY dancer and teacher goes through on their way, but NOT EVERYONE continues to move on! In addition to my teachers and mentors, who helped me to go through this period, I had examples of top world stars in front of me - they are the best in the world, millions of people "pray" for them, many have already written their name in dance history and at the same time in live communication "as easy as ABC". Modesty and kindness are the true signs of success.
3️⃣ Never stop learning.
I really like the analogy that our whole life is an endless escalator, but it goes in the opposite direction for us. And it turns out that this equation:
- If you go up faster than he goes down, you move up;
- If you're walking at the same speed as the escalator, you're just standing still;
- But if you're just standing still, then you're moving down.
Only constant and systematic development gives results! Important person told me a very good phrase: "As soon as a person decides that he knows everything, his career ends there!".
