Just two months before September 11, 2001, on July 24, 2001, the Twin Towers of the "World Trade Centre" were privatized and leased to Larry Silverstein.

EVERY MORNING Silverstein ate his breakfast on the 91st floor of the North Tower, but not on the day of the attack. On that fateful day, he went to a doctor's appointment.

As part of the 99-year lease agreement, he also took out insurance that "fortunately" covered terrorism.

After the attack, he sued the insurance company, which refused to pay the full compensation amount of $3.5 billion per tower, totaling $7 billion. Silverstein won the case and was awarded and paid $4.6 billion in insurance benefits by the court. He also sued two airlines, American Airlines and United Continental Holdings, for lack of security measures following the attack and later settled out of court with them for a compensation payment of $95.2 million.
