Bitchat for Android is a free, open-source chat app that sends encrypted messages over Bluetooth mesh, so it works without internet, servers, phone numbers, or accounts. It can also connect with the iPhone version, and its channel chats and store-and-forward feature help messages reach nearby and even farther devices. This helps you stay in touch during outages or in places with weak signal, but it is still a work in progress and has not had an outside security review.
