🇺🇸💸 - The U.S. Navy has officially awarded Boeing a contract worth more than $20 billion to develop the F/A-XX, its next-generation carrier-based fighter.
The program will fund full-scale development and multiple test aircraft, including platforms for flight, systems and weapons integration testing.
F/A-XX is expected to begin replacing the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler in the 2030s, operating alongside the F-35C and future Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA).
The award makes Boeing the sole producer of the U.S's future sixth-generation fighter programs, following its selection for the Air Force’s F-47 in 2025.
