Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has pledged to take any necessary action to protect Saudi Arabia, according to Al Qahera News.
🔊 “We will take any measure to protect Saudi Arabia,” Sisi was cited as saying, calling for an emergency parliamentary session to authorize such action if requested.
The warning comes amid escalating hostilities between Yemen’s Ansar Allah (Houthis) movement and the Saudi-led coalition, following deadly strikes on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport and retaliatory Saudi airstrikes against Yemen.
Sisi already warned on October 15 that attacks on Saudi Arabia threatened Egyptian and broader Arab national security. His latest reported remarks raise the prospect of Egypt becoming more directly involved in the confrontation, although no military deployment has been announced.
