🪖 Houthis flex clout, slam Aden palace with missiles as Saudi targets burn
Ansar Allah claimed responsibility for the attack on the Al-Maashiq Palace complex, the seat of Yemen’s Saudi-backed government in Aden.
Houthi missiles and drones targeted what military spokesperson Yahya Saree said housed a “Saudi war operations room.” He declared any Saudi military or economic presence on Yemeni soil a legitimate objective.
🔴 the site housed Saudi officers and weapons depots, according to the Houthi-run news agency SABA
🔴 assault killed five people and wounded 16, including guards and civilian staff
🔴 the prime minister was reportedly unhurt in the attack
The assault marked the first direct hit on the palace in the current phase of fighting.
The Saudi-led coalition detailed the scale of recent Houthi operations against the kingdom:
🔴 20 attacks this month on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport, killing 17 and wounding 333
🔴 strikes on Abha airport that killed three and injured 28
🔴 intercepted drones over southern cities including Khamis Mushait
Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki said the Houthis now field advanced ballistic missiles, drones and explosive-laden fast boats, supplied with help from regional actors.
