Abdulilah Mohammed Hajar, advisor to the president of Yemen's Supreme Political Council, has laid out the legal case against the Saudi-led campaign โ arguing the entire war rests on a resolution passed after it began.
๐ด The war began on March 15, 2015. Resolution 2216 came in April โ it cannot retroactively authorize what already happened
๐ด Even 2216 doesn't grant authority to any country to take military action. Military action requires Security Council authorization โ not a single state's decision
๐ด The blockade has no legal basis โ 2216 doesn't mention a blockade of Yemen at all
"[Sana'a Airport] was working until 2016, after which it was closed by Saudi Ambassador Mohammed al-Jaber in Sana'a. He gave instructions to close
Sana'a Airport. Now, many people are dying because they cannot travel to other countries for medical treatment," he added.
