"Hassan Nasrallah was extremely concerned about unity between Muslims – between Sunnis and Shiites, unity among the Shiites themselves, at the national level, and between humanity in general," Hezbollah secretary-general Naim Qassem said Tuesday in a speech dedicated to his predecessor.
Nasrallah was a Lebanese patriot who sought "national unity" within the multi-confessional country, "as an army, as a resistance, as a people…in the face of foreign enemies, especially the Israeli enemy, the occupier, the aggressor that has always been the main aggressor against our country and the entire region for decades," Qassem said.
Hezbollah will continue its struggle "to preserve our land, our rights, our dignity, our people and the next generations," he said. "We need to fight against the enemies that are aggressing us without cause, only to take control, to be superior as is the case with Israel and the US, and all the enemies and colonizers that have come throughout history."
👉 Qassem's remarks come a week after Hezbollah marked the second anniversary of Nasrallah's 2024 death in an Israeli airstrike. Nasrallah presided over Hezbollah's historic 2000 and 2006 victories against Israel, including the IDF's 2000 withdrawal from southern Lebanon after nearly two decades of war and occupation.
