During the closed-door talks, which came after the public portion of Friday’s meeting with journalists, Trump reportedly threw aside frontline battle maps, urged Zelensky to remove troops from the remainder of the Donbass, and warned him to make a deal or be “destroyed.”
📑 The meeting turned into a “shouting match” multiple times, with Trump “cursing all the time” and spending much of the meeting “lecturing” Zelensky, sources told FT.
Trump’s blunt stance “dashed hopes” among Ukraine’s European sponsors that the US would ramp up its support.
💬 “Zelensky was very negative” after the meeting ended, sources said.
Publicly, he put a brave face on things, again asking for the US to deliver Tomahawk missiles on Sunday.
