Readings and discussion of plays of #BRICS countries are held at the New Stage named after Vsevolod Meyerhold at the Alexandrinsky Theater. The event is the third part of the thematic session "Theater" within the framework of the XI St. Petersburg International United Cultures Forum.
Organisers note that the event serves as a platform to unite "civilisations with rich cultural heritage and high potential for cultural growth."
"The basis of theatrical development should be dramaturgy and young directing. However, despite the prevalence of knowledge of Western dramaturgy in Russia, there is a need to actively promote plays from South Africa, China, Brazil and other countries, as well as to support young directors from friendly states," the project's press release said.
