Welwitschia mirabilis is a bizarre plant endemic to the hyper-arid Namib Desert. It produces only two leaves in its entire life, which grow continuously and get split into messy ribbons by desert winds over time. These resilient plants are true living fossils, with some individual specimens estimated to be between 1,000 and 2,000 years old!
